About Me!

Hello my name is Jackson Jones I am a student in Bettendorf Iowa and welcome to my blog. In my freetime and when not reading, my favorite things to do is fish, play baseball, and hang out with friends and family. I like fishing because it makes me become more patient and it also helps me stay even keeled for sports like baseball and basketball. Also, I play baseball because I just grew up playing the sport and it also is a great way to get ready for life in the fact that baseball is a game of failure.  My dad played in college and my mom played softball through highschool. My family and friends are a big part of my life and I can look at them for support and guidance.  My reading journey has been a bit of a bumpy ride and not the best experience until a few years ago. Starting in 2nd grade I really liked books like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney and other books when I was told they were not grade level books and they were not a good fit. This made me not want to read and I would just skip over or lie about reading my books. I would never really get into books until fourth grade when my teacher Mrs.Linnenbrink helped me and spent probably ten minutes with me to find a good book. This book would end up being The Hero Two Doors Down by Sharon Robinson.  This gave me confidence and I saw that there were good books out there that I could get into. In fifth grade I was told that I couldn’t read The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the newest book and had to find a new book. Since then I could never really find good books that I really liked, but I still like reading and what it teaches me everyday.  Also, I have never struggled to read at a good pace, but when I read by myself I read slower and I like to just know what’s happening in the book better than reading and finishing fast.  I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to read. I think without books and reading you can’t see other people’s perspective, and it can help you get out of a tough spot in your life by realizing other people are in the same boat as you by using books. Lastly, on this blog, I plan to share the books I read, my journey as a reader in reading, and how my perspectives may change with what I read.
